Sociological Elements of Juvenile Delinquency A Quantitative Analysis of Youth Offender Industrial School Karachi
Abstract
The current study investigated the relationship between sociological elements and juvenile delinquency of youth offender industrial school Karachi, in spectrum of family background, criminal association, level of education, economic and employment status. The present research help to provide specific actions through policy making by state and governance in protection of children in juvenile centers and in general. It addressed the sociological conditions of juveniles for reintegration in society. The researcher used quantitative method of research survey design. For selection of respondent’s probability type of random sampling was used. 108 respondents were interviewed. The results of data revealed that Juvenile delinquency was (a) highly significant with criminal association i.e., (χ 2 = 33.5 & P-Value = 0.00), (b) Employment status (χ 2= 20.80 & P Value = 0.000) and (c) with education (χ 2 = 33.74 & P- Value = 0.00). (d)The statistics with levels of family income and juvenile delinquency was insignificant (χ 2 = 0.94 & P- Value = 0.57) and (e) the juvenile delinquency was also insignificant with Family background (χ 2 = 1.71, PValue = 0.057).
